Joy Barua Lablu – Founder, Robolife Technologies

Joy Barua Lablu is a Bangladeshi robotics innovator, researcher, and entrepreneur, best known as the Founder of Robolife Technologies, a research-driven assistive robotics startup dedicated to developing affordable robotic prosthetic hands for upper-limb amputees. Founded in 2018 through project funding support from the ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh, Robolife Technologies was established to create inclusive, accessible, and impactful technological solutions for people with disabilities. His mission is to leverage innovation, engineering, and human-centered design to empower individuals to live independent and dignified lives.

Since 2020, Joy has been leading the research, design, and development of advanced prosthetic solutions using EMG (Electromyography), 3D printing, and embedded systems. Under his leadership, Robolife Technologies has successfully provided robotic prosthetic hands to over 100 individuals across Bangladesh and internationally, helping them regain independence and confidence.

Beyond product innovation, Joy is actively contributing to robotics education and youth development. Through seminars, workshops, and training programs, he has trained over 5,000 students in robotics, playing a significant role in promoting technology education and innovation among young people.

In 2024, his work gained international recognition when Robolife provided prosthetic hands to individuals who lost their limbs during student protests. This humanitarian initiative was widely covered by global media outlets such as Voice of America (VOA) and France 24. Additionally, Robi Axiata Ltd. produced a television commercial (TVC) highlighting his journey and the social impact of Robolife Technologies.

His innovations have reached international platforms, with robotic solutions showcased and exported as demo products to India, Malaysia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. He continuously improves product durability, grip strength, and usability through applied research, real-world testing, and user feedback.

Most recently, Joy Barua Lablu has been selected among the Top 10 participants globally for the Future Action Summit Thailand 2026, a prestigious international platform organized by Echo Change. From thousands of applicants worldwide, he was awarded a fully funded opportunity to attend the summit, recognizing his impact as a global innovator and changemaker. This includes international airfare, accommodation, meals, VIP summit access, an official invitation, SDGs toolkit, and a Global SDGs Leadership Certification. The summit will take place from 7–10 May 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, where he will represent Bangladesh and showcase the vision and impact of Robolife Technologies on a global stage.
